WP #win!

If you had looked at my online real estate 2 months ago (as web-guru, Vince Marotte did) you would have had a similar reaction to him. “Wrong!” You’d find yourself saying things like, “Why doesn’t you use Googlereader to read blogs (apparently bookmarking is out[!?])?”" You don’t post photos to flickr and auto post them thru to facebook?” And, “How come when I go to justingirdler.net I get redirected to a mac web account?” (a triple “wrong!”)

This has has torpedoed me into working on thunkt.com for two weeks prior to launch, and had spend the previous 2 months working on justingirdler.net.  And in case you didn’t recognize the big ‘W’ I have to clarify, WordPress has been friggin’ hard to wrap my noggin around!  I mean, sure you could just download your favorite theme, let it go, and just let it do its thing, but not I!  I got to know how everything works! I mean, what if I wanted to change colors, fonts, favicons, and someday wanted to set up ad spaces?!? So these last two months have been a pilgrimage into the interwordpress.I started with the “Thesis” theme.  You can do a lot with it (like, see belows).

On this foundation guys and girls have customized the crap out of it weather by widgets or be getting into the css and php files (I thinkt).  So started with Thesis I stumbled around around like a one legged kid trying to navigate through a room of rattlesnakes, oh, and the lights are off too. Now that you got that visual, that was me & Thesis biting me repetitively in the ankle until I fell and cried “Enough!”

That’s where I decided to simplify my life. So I headed over to a friend’s site. Human3rror (a.k.a. John Saddington) has all the themes you need to find online-ergo-tranquility! His themes talk like they don’t stink (and they don’t).  Perusing through his clean css I have finally been able to get my grips on WordPress! Thinks click, bulbs go on, and hamsters start spinnin’ the wheels (in my head at least)!

Now I know that makes Human3rror sound like some kind of apothecary, but if you check out my sites, here and at justingirdler.net, you’ll find that I’m nestling into WordPress bliss quite nicely under the guidance of DigitalBusinessCard and CrushPress!  So I hope you find this convincing enough to click through John’s themes, checking them out for yourself (no, he’s not paying me, he doesn’t even know I’m writing this). But if you’ve been like me, and wanted slick, function, clean, and eye-candy, then you have to at least familiarize yourself with Human3rror‘s stash (no, not his mustache, his nevermind).
